Techno Dubstep House Minimal +4

How I got into Electronic Music:

I'd have to say that my first encounter with electronic music would be at block parties when I was a kid. I remember hearing a mixture of hip hop, freestyle, house being played and being intrigued on how the DJ would manipulate the records and mix all those styles together seamlessly. It wasn't until the Mid 90's that my love for house and techno came to fruition. I had a friend who made me a mix tape (remember those?), that contained the works of Josh Wink, Chemical Brother and Daft Punk; since then I have been an avid electronic music collector.

Influences:

I listen to A LOT of Funk and Afro-Beat (James Brown, Roy Ayers, George Clinton, The Beginning of the End.)Hip- Hop (Afrika Bambaataa, Run DMC, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul) Freestyle/Electro( Kraftwerk, Model 500, and of course House (Masters at Work, Todd Terry, Kerri Chandler, Derrick Carter) and Techno( Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin).

What I play and what you can expect to hear:

Since I have a broad taste in music it's hard to say what I'm going to play on any given night. I would describe my style as a unique mixture of organic and synthetic sounds, that ranges from Deep/Soulful House, Tech House (lots of it), Techno, Breakbeat and everything in between.

Where I've been (The Past):

I started out playing at rave events in around 2002-2003 which provided an outlet for me to play and be comfortable in front of a crowd. I've also played at clubs like Spirit, Rebel and the Legendary Avalon (Limelite) along with countless warehouse and local events.

Where I'm going (The Future):

While I love DJing, I feel production is important for those who want to maintain an active role in the electronic music world. I recently acquired a Maschine from Native Instruments and it has opened a lot of possibilities when I perform. I incorporate live sequencing and drums on top of my DJ sets which adds a completely different dynamic to my sets. Although I cannot foresee my future as an artist, I plan on releasing my original work along with performing my music live as a live act in the future.
