Todd Peterson – aka DJ TeePee –
Has been actively in the scene since his first rave experience in ’95. TeePee was inspired to purchase a pair of 1200s upon seeing the likes of Melbourne local DJ's Sean Quinn, Kasey Taylor, Gavin Keitel and Jeff Tyler, hold their own alongside international heavyweights Carl Cox, Sasha, Eric Morillo and Paul Oakenfold. As time progressed, so too did TeePee’s sound, with later influences of Boogs, Agent 86 and Ransom holding sway on TeePee’s burgeoning vinyl collection and technique - from playing the progressive journey-centric style, through to the quick mixing and tweaking style of techno and jacking house, down to party sets of nu disco/deep house. This is where his current love for the beats lies, along with underground tech-house and his trademark smatterings of old classics. A TeePee set is guaranteed to generate at least a half dozen hands in the air moments, minimum 3 x “oh my god I did not see that coming” double-takes, and inevitably a dance-floor full of sore feet and giant smiles.
His CV is imposing, with TeePee having rocked pretty much every house club of note in his hometown - Room, Revolver, Blue Bar, Loft, Two Floors Up, Escobar, to name a few. His international exposure is equally impressive, having held residencies and regular guest spots at London clubs The White House, Fluid, Living Bar and many more.
In 2014 Peterson is developing his sound further, with TeePee original edits and remixes bringing a fresh flavour to his sets you’ll not hear elsewhere. Yes the man is old school, as evidenced by the lengthy commitment to his craft, and by the obscure uplifting classics thrown down in his sets. But don’t mistake old school with conservative or static – it’s party music of the past, present and future you’re hearing.
