Born in Lisbon, based in Rome, the portuguese producer and live performer Mechanique (Jaime Paiva) started his career back in 1998, inspired by the industrial influences of Nitzer Ebb and Front 242 and marking the electro-industrial Lisbon scene at the time. From there, he rapidly evolved into the soundscapes of Techno, having his debut EP "Hookers on Dope" on the legendary label Kaos Records in 2003 (responsible for hits such as "So Get Up"), with a release which was fostered by Dj Vibe and reached the bags and charts of artists such as Danny Tenaglia, Dj Yellow or John Creamer & Stephane K.

He has, since then, been producing a stream of tracks and steadily exploiting the deeper, intense, atmospheric side of electronic music. Imprinting his characteristic personal style on his creations, he recently published his full-length album "Complex Behaviour" on Hype Muzik, which was featured on John Digweed's Transitions Radio Show, and released one of his latest EP's through Joachim Spieth's Affin imprint, reaching Beatport's top sales chart.

Apart from his studio work, Mechanique also performs as Live act and DJ, having passed through clubs such as D-Edge in Sao Paulo, and regularly broadcasting his podcasts in radios such as Proton, RUM, Ibiza Global Radio and Frisky.

Since 2012, he also runs his more experimental, techno side-project Sphitzio, while also managing his label Benthic Recordings - hosting artists such as SQL, From P60 and Rob Small.
