Berlin, Germany
Friday, February 1, 2013 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM CEST
A relentless and unstoppable Nick Curly heads into 2012 on the back of yet another excellent year. Nick once again reached the highest echelons of Resident Advisor’s annual DJ poll, released Cocoon’s biggest selling 12” of 2011 and his residency at Space Ibiza’s Kehakuma continued to break new ground. Unquestionably proud of his home-town, this Mannheim native’s talent and determination has long outlasted the hype that broke out in the late 00’s over the house sound which emerged there.

His 47-date Between The Lines world tour, saw Nick circumnavigate the globe whilst promoting his debut album of the same name. The album’s feel may have been laid back, but the tour was anything but, kicking off in Playa del Carmen on New Year’s Day at BPM Festival and then hitting North America, Australia (rescheduled to November), Asia and Latin America.

His “main aim with this project was to capture an emotional feeling”. Bringing in more live instrumentation gave the album more of the sonic depth he was aiming for and the vocals of Rebecca Maas, Luca Sportiello and Worthy Davis proved to be a masterstroke. Delighting his fans and impressing the majority of critics, Between The Lines can now be retrospectively viewed as a moment that the German producer truly broadened his range. Now get ready for the remixes!

Moving into the second half of 2012, Nick returns to Space Ibiza for his third season as resident at KEHAKUMA which, in just these few short years, has become one of the most influential parties on the island.

The summer begins with the release of the inaugural KEHAKUMA compilation which has been compiled and mixed by Nick and which the club says shows “visible evidence of his flawless skill behind the decks, and which accurately reflects the musical aesthetic developed at KEHAKUMA since its inception.”

The peak summer season sees KEHAKUMA join forces with Richie Hawtin’s new ENTER project. With ENTER bringing the likes of Marcel Dettmann, Carl Craig, Dubfire, Sven Vath and, of course, Richie himself to the Discoteca and Nick being joined on the Terraza at various points by acts such as Magda, Radio Slave, Barem and Maya Jane Coles – you can bet that there will be many memorable parties to enjoy and Nick’s Ibiza residency is moving up a gear and to the next stage.

In late summer 2012, Nick also debuts at the UK’s Creamfields Festival and, in doing so, reach a personal ambition in performing at the legendary festival. Nick will also take to the festival stage at Audiogate, Hell und Dunkel and Day&Night Fest (DE), RideFest (HU), Eastern Electrics (UK), Around Festival (CH), and round off the summer at Space Ibiza’s Closing Fiesta.
